Santhome Cathedral
To cleanse our souls on Sunday, we drove to the northern end of the city, to attend mass at Santhome (Saint Thomas) Cathedral, a large white cathedral, recently restored, which is built over the (supposed) tomb of Thomas the apostle (AKA "doubting Thomas.") Thomas purportedly came to Kerala in about AD 52, made his way across South India, and after several years of preaching here, met his unfortunate end. If the diorama at his tomb is accurate, a bad (white) man with a scorpion tattoo seems to have snuck up behind him and run him through with a spear.
